基於本年度申請者再度爆發,大家互相殺伐最後很多人都念不到心儀學校 馬登我特因此發文,提供另一個管道讓大家參考.
大家應該不太清楚, UT-Austin有跟七間商學院簽訂dual degree協議,意即在母校修讀一年後,再到Austin修讀第二年,則可以領有兩地學位.盡享雙校資源. 反之先在Austin後到partner school亦然. 其中Austin在亞洲區partner的兩間學校,一間是我的母校CUHK,香港中文大學.另一間則是北京大學-光華管理學院PKU. 兩間都在local極富資源,並為中國的外企所認可.
如果妳/你是我標題中所描述的人
1. Gmat有個660以上
2. 工作經驗有個三年以上
3. 還不知道申請結果,但很怕自己在拼殺中敗陣
4. 但是"今年"一定要去念MBA,實在等不及明年
5. 想省錢
我會建議你,快點申請 CUHK, ( www.baf.cuhk.edu.hk/mba ) 或是PKU (www.gsm.pku.edu.cn ) 前者是以MBA申請方式申請即可, 後者則要通過台生專用的考試. (trust me, it's piece of cake for you guys who were graduated from NTU, NCCU, NTHU, NCTU...etc)
你的benefit如下:
1.第二年到Austin念,屬於正式學生,享有所有權限,學位...etc 總之跟念兩年的幾乎一樣,只是少了在美國的summer intern
2.幾乎提出雙學位申請的都會上.因為他不佔基本學生名額.去年我們學校去了三個,包括一個Gmat <660的.
3.Austin是Finance/marketing/op mgt都很好的學校.IT的雇主有Dell, HP, 德州的金融中心則在Dallas..幾乎每間雇主都會到Austin徵人.
4.第一年省錢,不論學費或是living cost都低的多.整體算下來你至少可以省一百萬,還可以多拿一個學位!
5.不想在美國就業,還可以回香港/中國..靠母校的network/career resource找工作
如果你現在心存疑惑,但又認同我的觀點.請快點上網申請入學吧.別遲疑,遲疑就來不及了.
今年申請暴增是真的,今年很競爭也是真的,如果你放眼M7...那就別考慮我這想法. 但如果你瞄準的是Top20, Top30, 我是真的覺得此方法極佳. (其實我當初就是打著這想法進中大的.不過後來intern跟full time都很順利找到所以我就放棄去Austin的機會了. )
PS. 另外想去法國的可以考慮HEC.來中大念才有HEC的Dual degree program喔 :)
PS2.我覺得每一家MBA都該找我當marketing director...我比他們花錢招的還會pitch candidates的多太多, sigh

2008 March 寫信問Austin的結果如下：
In the Double Degree program, students earn 2 degrees, an MBA from McCombs and an MBA (or equivalent) from one of our Double Degree partner schools overseas. To apply for the Double Degree, you must currently be enrolled in an MBA program at one of our partner schools or in the Texas MBA full-time program at McCombs. In the first year of the MBA, the student would apply for admission to the Double Degree program and then complete a full application for admission to the second school.
Wherever you begin the double degree, McCombs or a partner school, you take the first year courses required by that institution. So, if you begin the double degree at McCombs, you would take all of our regular first year core courses and additional elective curriculum attending for the Fall and Spring and an additional Summer for a total of 37 credit hours. The requirements for the second half at the partner school vary depending on where you go. Each school determines their own requirements. In order to receive both degrees, you must complete all requirements from both schools.
While at McCombs, you would pay the regular tuition and fees for the McCombs MBA. While at the overseas school, you would pay them directly. Expenses vary according to program.
Double Degree students are issued F-1 visas and can participate in OPT.
